Our Studio

Based in Potts Point, Sydney, Project Botanica is perfectly positioned to serve the Eastern Suburbs and Inner West. We specialise in transforming small spaces such as balconies, roof terraces, courtyards, and small to medium-sized yards, into beautiful sanctuaries that tell a story. We believe that every outdoor space, no matter its size, holds limitless potential. In fact, smaller spaces invite greater creativity, offering the chance to craft intentional designs that blend beauty, function, and personality.

Our full-service approach takes you from concept to completion. Whether it’s planting schemes bursting with colour and texture, hard landscaping solutions, or ongoing post-installation care, we’re with you every step of the way. We work with skilled contractors and collaborate with local craftspeople, ensuring a high-quality finish and a distinct character in every project. At Project Botanica, we don’t just design gardens; we create spaces that enrich daily life, offering a moment of calm, or a place to gather with family and friends.

Gareth Walker – Design Director

Gareth Walker – Design Director at Project Botanica

Gardens have always been part of Gareth’s story. Growing up surrounded by passionate gardeners, his love for plants and outdoor spaces was sown early and has shaped his life ever since.

After a career in tech, Gareth followed his lifelong passion and retrained as a garden designer, later working under the mentorship of an award-winning landscape designer. This hands-on experience shaped his design philosophy: thoughtful use of space, always in harmony with its surroundings and tailored to complement the client’s lifestyle.

Gareth has since worked independently on residential gardens and commercial sites, guiding projects from concept to completion and beyond, with a strong focus on client relationships. He thrives in the creative process, designing spaces that reflect the client’s needs while honouring the surroundings they inhabit.

While hard landscaping is handled by trusted contractors, Gareth is most at home with a spade in hand, arranging plants and shaping the final details. He believes that even the smallest spaces can hold big stories. Gardens that grow with their owners, enrich daily life, and connect people to their environment.
